Your Kishu Ken Puppy
The base cost for a puppy from Akiyama no Roushya is $2200. This is for pet, show, sport, and breeding dogs. Puppies are not priced differently based on expectations, but will be placed differently due to them (for example, a dog with an obvious mismark or DQ trait would not be placed with someone looking for a show dog.) This money is put directly into the puppies and the dogs that produce them. This amount does not include transportation. Some individuals opt to pick their puppy up in person (and I do recommend this option - if for no reason more than to meet me and the parents of your puppy!) I am also willing to transport your puppy to you, time permitting, but this will be an additional cost. The standard cost for transportation through United Pet Safe for a Kishu Ken puppy has historically been $271 (+ tax) for the flight and $60-80 for the crate and airline-approved gear.
If you reside in most of the USA which does not require stricter import laws across state lines, this means the cost of your pup may be a total of about $2550, give or take 30 dollars (to account for tax and other miscellaneous transportation fees) if you opt to fly your puppy. This amount is to be paid by the time the pup is 6 weeks of age unless otherwise agreed upon. A holding fee of $500 is taken in order to assure a place on my waiting list for a puppy. This holding fee is good toward your puppy fee and does not ever expire. Expect at least a 1-2 year wait from the time you submit your holding fee to the time an appropriate puppy is born. You may always opt to wait for a later litter, but you may not be able to place a holding fee late and get on board for an earlier litter due to the high volume of previous inquiries. Puppies are matched based on the marriage of personality, owner requirements, and length of time an individual has been waiting. I do my best to provide you with the most appropriate puppy in a timely manner.
If you are residing outside of North America, cost of import and time spent with me after 8 weeks will increase the puppy's cost. Puppies may generally be exported to Europe at 17 weeks (assuming rabies vaccine is administered at 14 weeks - some vets will not administer the vaccine until 16 weeks, which will drive the age of import up to 19 weeks.) With the additional vet visits required on European exports, this may increase the puppy cost as much as $300, before transportation costs (but this will include additional vaccinations, deworming, paperwork, and health certificates required.) To Australia and countries with stricter import/export laws needing puppies to be even older, this may be higher.
If you are residing in an FCI country, please make sure that my pups can fulfill the role you want them to! The puppies from my kennel can be NIPPO, UKC, or AKC-FSS registered. FCI recognizes AKC, but some countries may not recognize AKC-FSS pedigrees, as FSS pedigrees are not export pedigrees. Some countries may just accept the NIPPO paperwork. Please research prior to contacting me if this may significantly impact your decision!
Hunters & Exhibitors
Hunters and exhibitors are given preferential access to puppies due to their importance in preserving and maintaining the breed. If you are a hunter looking for a Kishu Ken, please reach out to me via my contact form. My goal is aid hunters and exhibitors interested in the breed in getting an appropriate puppy as efficiently as possible.
