I have a growing list of available Kishu Ken adults and puppies that are either in the US or will be imported to the US in the next few months. If you are looking for a Kishu Ken, please read through this post and email me if you have any questions to follow up at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I have heard of 1-3 available adult dogs.
Adult Male 1: The first is Shirogane, a full brother to Fionna, who is currently living at Hakuzan Kennel. Shirogane is a white male, 3 years of age, and neutered. He is good with people, children, and female dogs, but may be combative with male dogs. He probably should not go to a home with cats or small animals, as he has not been raised around either. Overall, Shirogane is a happy, active dog that needs someone who wants an active, lifelong companion. You will be Shirogane's "retirement home." If you are interested, please email me and I will put you in touch with his owners.
Adult Male 2: There is another, intact male Kishu Ken who will have to be imported. He is 4 years of age, white-coated, and has a successful show career where he is now. He was offered to me as an option for new blood in the USA, so part of the agreement for importing him will be permitting me and Hakuzan Kennel at least one breeding from him. His import cost is high, but he is a good candidate for anyone looking to pick up an AKC-FSS breed for conformation and, perhaps, he may be trained for obedience or agility.
Adult Female 1: One last adult Kishu Ken who may be available is a white female, who will be spayed before she is placed. Her placement home only must agree that she will stay with them for life. She will need a family or owner who is active as she loves long hikes. She also has boar-hunting experience from a prior home. I would not recommend this girl to a home with small animals, cats, or multiple dogs. She may do well with a suitable male dog as a companion, however. If you are interested in her and want more information, please contact me and I can put you in touch with her current owners.
I am importing a white male puppy by the end of this year. He will be NIPPO and FCI registered, and will be placed on co-ownership. This puppy may be a good candidate for anyone looking to get involved in the Kishu Ken breed in conformation, obedience, or agility (or any other sports) and must be made available to me for breeding and showing in our annual Japanese dog show (if the owners do not want to show him, themselves.)
The co-owner must be in reasonable driving distance from Portland, Oregon (no more than 1 day's drive.)
