Jason is a very intelligent and sensitive Kishu who is "softer" for the breed. He is a very eager worker and is easy to motivate. He is slow to warm up to people and generally neutral with dogs. He is, however, my only Kishu who appears same sex aggressive with certain dogs.

As of July 2020, Jason was ruled Positive Compensative Autoimmune Thyroiditis. Jason is a phenotypically normal-appearing dog as he is in compensative stages. There is no data on how widespread this illness is in the breed as I am the only breeder in the world submitting this data to the OFA. Due to the heritability of autoimmune thyroiditis, Jason is removed from breeding plans until I am able to assess and evaluate more Kishu Ken with the OFA, test the puppies from his first litter (2019), and speak with specialists on next steps. Results are visible in his "Health Data" gallery and on the OFA website.
Jason, in the theme of my kennel, is named for the (tragic) Greek hero and leader of the Argonauts. Jason is a very large Kishu in size - tall and broad and masculine - and has substance some of my other dogs have been lacking in. He is also a rather "soft" personality, eager, gentle, and easy-going. These traits in combination with his pedigree make him a very important addition to my kennel, to offset some of my sharper, leaner hunting-line dogs.
Jason's current sports are lure coursing and obedience while he builds confidence to stand for hands-on judging in conformation.
