Akiyama no Roushya litter 5 is here! 4 male pups were born between 9:45 PM and 11:20 PM on 11/27, 2019. The dam is Seihoume go Hakushuu Daizan sou and the sire is UKC CH Hakuzan no Sekirou go Hakuzan Ryousou.
These parents were also the BOB/RBIS Kishu Ken at NIPPO USA - West 2019 and the BOS Kishu ken at the same show. They both received "excellent" ratings from the NIPPO judge flown in to evaluate the entry. The pedigree COI currently estimated is 0.15% over 5 generations. Embark-generated COR between the parents is 30% (one of the lowest observed among tested Kishu Ken) and the Optimal Selection GHI estimate is 99. I'm looking forward to seeing these boys grow. Pedigree and health data currently known indicates these should be genetically diverse pups and I am hoping the sire will bring his unflappable confidence and spirit while the dam brings her incredible breed type. I do not believe there will be any puppies from this litter available, but I am still accepting applications.

I do not publicly advertise my dogs as "at stud" as I am one of only 2 active Kishu Ken breeders in North America so there is not a large audience for my dogs to stand stud FOR.
However, I have had some interest in my dogs from overseas breeders, so I thought this would be worth mentioning. I do not charge a stud fee for my dogs. If you are a breeder or owner of a compatible female dog, the all stud fees are "at cost" - this means if you can pay for all the machinations of artificial insemination or pay to get me & my dog to you, you will not be asked to pay A CENT MORE. Stewarding and preserving rare breeds is difficult enough, and breeding can be a risk - a risk of a failed pregnancy, risk for your bred dogs, and puppy care is difficult and stressful enough without adding the extra cost of a stud fee to the pile. My major stipulations are:
If you have any questions about this or the process, please feel free to email me at akiyama@kishu-ken.org. Both Fionnuala and Reiko's litters are confirmed. We are currently anticipating 10 puppies between the 2 litters.
I am still accepting applications for sport, exhibition, and potential breeding homes who will are willing to become National Kishu Club members. If you are in the Pacific Northwest or within reasonable driving distance from the Portland metro area (Oregon), I am also considering companion homes for co-ownership.
