The Kishu Ken is one of Japan's mid-sized hunting dogs still used to bay and hold wild boar. Our mission is to produce Kishu Ken that follow the NIPPO (Nihon Ken Hozonkai / Japanese Dog Preservation Society) standards, maintain genetic diversity within the breed, and preserve the form, function, and temperament of this intelligent, natural dog for future generations. It is our goal to produce outgoing, active companions with strong nerves who are generally easy-going with people.
Our breeding dogs at Akiyama no Roushya are active companions proven as hiking and camping dogs. They are shown and titled under local and international judges. Our kennel is currently the only kennel in the world with dogs in the OFA database, the only kennel in the USA that genotypes every single dog before breeding, and the only kennel in the world that genotypes all puppies placed to predict genetic diversity and wellness in an effort to do our best to produce healthy puppies. We are strict and honest about the temperaments of our dogs and transparent about all aspects of our breeding.
